William Hill Young Sports Writer of the Year Award

William Hill are delighted to announce the inaugural William Hill Young Irish Sports Writer of the Year Award.  This award aims to recognise and assist exceptional up-and-coming sports writers from across Ireland.

The winner of this year’s inaugural award will receive the William Hill Young Irish Sports Writer of the Year trophy from Waterford Crystal.  They will also be given two weeks of top journalism experience in one of Ireland’s busiest newsrooms in their choice of either Dublin or Belfast.

How to Enter

• Entrants can enter online through the www.irishsportsbookoftheyear.com website. 
• Entrants must submit no more than 600 words of a match report through the website on one of the following games:

Soccer: Ireland v Poland – Croke Park – 19th November
Soccer: Northern Ireland v Hungary – Windsor Park, Belfast – 19th November
Rugby: Ireland v New Zealand – Croke Park – 15th November

• Reports must be uploaded to the website by the 23rd November at 18:00 for consideration.
• The entries will then be judged by this year’s judging panel for the William Hill Irish Sports Book of the Year
• This year’s winner will be announced in early December.

 

Terms and Conditions:

• Entrants must be between the age of 18 and 25 on the closing date for entries
• Entrants must not have worked or currently work for a national publication
• The competition is open to entrants within the Republic or Ireland and Northern Ireland only

William Hill staff may not enter.
